About Us
In 2008, in the wake of 3 student deaths at Douglas High School, grief counselor Jodi Wass and Solace Tree founder Emilio Parga were called to run support groups for students grieving the loss of their classmates and friends. The grief support groups continued through 2010 and at which point Wass and Parga saw a need for a program that served all community members who have lost a loved one in Douglas County and surrounding areas. In 2010, Wass and Parga co-founded the Douglas Center for Hope and Healing. Board members and volunteers were recruited and in 2011 we began providing support services to grieving children, teens and adults.
With the help of our community, the Douglas Center for Hope and Healing is proud to be offering peer support groups to children, teens, adults and families in Douglas, Carson, Lake Tahoe and surrounding communities.
